Empowerments

Special Blessing Ceremonies

Vajrasattva Empowerment Shrine at Dharmapala Buddhist Centre

Empowerments are special ritual ceremonies in which we receive a personal introduction to a particular Buddha and receive their blessings so that we may attain the same qualities as them in the future.  Once we have received the blessings of a particular Buddha it is like they become a special, close friend and if we rely upon them we will receive their help and protection.  If you have never been to an empowerment before, don't worry, you will be guided in what to do during the actual ceremony.  Everyone is welcome to attend these ceremonies.  Please book if you would like to come along.

Buddha Shakyamuni Empowerment

6 Mar 2010: 10am - 5pm

Buddha Shakyamuni Empowerment

Buddha Shakyamuni is the founder of Buddhism in our world today.  He lived from 642BC to 543BC.  Buddha Shakyamuni was born as Prince Siddhartha and spent the first 29 years of his life living in his father's luxurious palace.  He then received signs and predictions that the time had come to abandon his life as a prince and to follow the spiritual path.  As a result he left the palace and having ordained himself as a monk he spent the next 6 years engaged in meditation.  At the age of 35 he showed the attainment of enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya.  He then travelled far and wide teaching people how to free themselves from suffering and increase their happiness. It is out of the compassion of Buddha Shakyamuni that we now have access to the precious Dharma that will lead us to liberation.

By receiving this empowerment we can gain the inspiration and the confidence that we need to progress along the spiritual path and thereby solve all of our problems.

Amitayus Empowerment and Retreat

2/3 Oct 2010

Amitayus Empowerment

Amitayus is the Buddha of long life, merit and wisdom.  If we have a long life, abundant merit and the wisdom to use these two wisely, we can definitely attain enlightenment in this lifetime.  The greatest obstacles to our spiritual development are ignorance and death.  By receiving the blessings of Amitayus and then relying upon him we can protect ourselves from an untimely death and we can also dispel our ignorance.

This empowerment will be followed by a day of Amitayus retreat.
